RBCs are re-suspended in saline and any remaining soluble components are separated out.
Plasma constituents, cellular debris, anticoagulant, and non-emulsified fats are separated into the waste bag.
Shed blood is introduced into the washing chamber at the innermost edge of the spiral channel.
RBCs are packed to a consistent hematocrit of 60% and pumped to the reinfusion bag. PRC can be transferred and reinfused at this point.
